Release from LCSO
Deputies from another county transported an 18-year-old white male to Rebound Behavioral Health on Rebound Road off U. S. Highway 521 north of Lancaster this morning, Thursday, February 21, 2019. When they arrived about 10:30 a. m. the young man ran from them and crossed over to the west side of Highway 521. The incident occurred not far from Van Wyck Elementary School. School authorities were notified, and the school was placed on lock down.
Many officers of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office including a K-9 handler and his hound responded to search for the man. The K-9 unit tracked him and he was located in the deep woods off Three Crow Road just before 1:00 p. m. The man was wet and cold but otherwise uninjured but was transported by Lancaster County Emergency Medical Services personnel to a medical facility for examination. The man was not an arrestee at the time he ran from Rebound, was not armed, and posed no threat to citizens.
Sheriff Barry Faile said, “We’re glad this young man was located pretty quickly and that he’s safe and healthy. Because of all the recent rainfall and cool temperatures, today was not a good day to be wandering in the woods. Our officers did an outstanding job responding to the area to contain it, and our K-9 unit led us directly to him.”
