The Andrew Jackson Volunteers traveled to Lee Central for the final game of the regular season. The high hopes of grabbing a better position in the regional finishes, were met with disappointment, a both AJ teams lost to their Lee Central opponents. In a playoff important series of matches The Lady Vols could have captured the regional title with a win. They finish in second place in the region as do the Vols. The Lady Vols lost 57 to 30 to the Lee Central Girls. The Vols dropped their game 52-42 to the Lee Central Boys.
The Girls struggled throughout the night with missed shots, an inability to stop the layup, and extensive calls from the referees. The Lady Vols fell behind early in the first quarter and went into the second quarter trailing by 13 points. The Lady Vols ended the half with a 17 point deficit. During the third quarter, the Lady Vols only banked three points to the Lee Central Girls 11 points ending the third quarter 44 to 19. The game ended with the Lady Vols 30 and Lee Central 57.
Caroline Wrenn was lead scorer for the Lady Vols with 7 points on two goals and one trey. Oksana Latham had 6 points. Iesha Williams and Lexi Roberson each added 5 points. McKenzie Marshall had 3 points. Annsley Vick and Osha Black each added 2 points.
The boys also found the referee calls to seem to be on them most of the evening. The Vols started the game with a lead at the end of the first quarter 12-13. At the half the Lee Central Boys were ahead by 8 points 29-21. The 8 point difference remained throughout the third quarter and going into the fourth quarter the score was 39-31. The Lee Central boys took the game 52-42
Joey Walters was lead scorer with 10 points on 2 goals and 2 treys. DJ Ealey had 9 points. Jawquinn Black had 8 points. Jamie Hinson and Jalen Robinson each had 5 points. OJ White had 3 points. Josh Adams added 2 points.
Both AJ teams will face off against Ninety Six in home games on Tuesday. Girls game is at 6:00 pm and Boys at 7:30pm
