Last Friday, January 4, 2019, agents of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force, working in conjunction with the Mocksville Police Department in Forsyth County, North Carolina, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, and the Department of Homeland Security, concluded a drug investigation that resulted in LSD trafficking charges on a Lancaster man. The investigation revealed that Christopher Dustin Owens, age 23, of 1346 Kings Circle, Lancaster, was selling LSD from his home in Lancaster to people in North Carolina. While under surveillance last Friday, Owens left his home and drove to a parking lot on Sugarcreek Road in Charlotte, where he met an undercover source and is believed to have sold him 1,000 doses or “hits” of suspected LSD. Owens was taken into custody in North Carolina and remains incarcerated there on several charges.
Task Force agents obtained a search warrant for Owens’ home, and they, along with criminal investigators and a member of the Street Crimes Unit, executed the search warrant about suppertime Friday. During the search agents recovered 1,257 hits of suspected LSD; 169 suspected Ecstasy (MDMA) pills; 35 grams of suspected Marijuana; mushrooms containing suspected Psilocybin; multiple items of drug paraphernalia including bongs, pipes, grinders, and scales; an AK 47 rifle; and $1,387.00 cash. LSD is commonly infused onto small squares on sheets of paper called “botch” paper. Agents seized a binder containing multiple sheets of botch paper but have not yet determined whether those sheets contain LSD. They will be analyzed at the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) lab to determine if additional charges will be made.
Search warrants were also served at two homes in Forsyth County which led to the seizure of almost 4,000 hits of suspected LSD, suspected Marijuana, another AK 47 rifle, and over $11,000.00 cash. Three additional men in North Carolina were charged with Trafficking LSD.
Warrants were obtained charging Owens with Trafficking More than 1,000 Doses of LSD, Trafficking More than 100 Doses of Ecstasy, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime as a result of the items found during the Kings Circle search. The warrants will be served upon Owens when he is released from North Carolina custody. Attached are photographs of Owens and the items seized at the Kings Circle home.
Sheriff Barry Faile said, “I am a little surprised at the presence of such a large quantity of LSD in our county. We appreciate the information shared with us by the Mocksville Police Department, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, and the Department of Homeland Security. This joint operation led to the arrest of four people on very serious drug charges and the seizure of several thousand doses of LSD, a large amount of cash, and two firearms.”
