From LCSD release
The Andrew Jackson High vs. Lancaster High basketball game scheduled for tonight is being rescheduled.
District officials heard rumors about possible problems at the game but did not have the time to arrange the additional security the district wanted in place, which prompted district officials to reschedule the game.
“We apologize for any inconvenience rescheduling the game may cause,” superintendent Jonathan Phipps said. “Even though the rumors we heard were very vague, we felt having extra security in place was the right thing to do. We just didn’t have enough time to get that in place.”
The schools’ athletic directors are working to set a new date for the two teams to play.
The district posted the announcement about the rescheduling on the district Facebook page and the safety and transportation Facebook page.
The district also sent out a message via its REMIND app to parents at the two schools and notified local media.
“Our focus is always on keeping our students, parents and staff safe,” Dr. Phipps said.
