Jachreo Dmitri Hinson, age 24, of Lancaster, was arrested yesterday, Thursday, September 13, 2018, and charged with Criminal Solicitation of a Minor, a felony that carries up to ten years in prison. Hinson recently has been a substitute teacher for the Lancaster County School District. He also operates a photography business. He was substituting at Lancaster High School and began communicating with a 16-year-old female student in one of his classes and asked the student if she wanted him to take photographs of her. The two communicated by text and social media over the course of several days. Tuesday night the two talked on the telephone, and the student reported the next morning that Hinson made comments to her indicating that he wanted to engage in sexual activity with her. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation. Hinson was interviewed Thursday afternoon and was taken into custody and transported to the Lancaster County Detention Center at the conclusion of the interview. A warrant charging him with Criminal Solicitation of a Minor was served upon him in the detention center. A photograph of Hinson is attached. The investigation will continue. At this time it is not believed that Hinson and the student were together outside the school setting or that sexual activity occurred. Sheriff Barry Faile said, “I applaud this young lady for immediately reporting these conversations which made her uncomfortable. This conduct was discovered early on, and action was taken that put an end to this matter before it could progress.” Anyone with information about this or any other case should call the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388 or contact Midlands Crimestoppers in one of the following ways: dial 888-CRIME-SC (888-274-6372), log onto www.midlandscrimestoppers.com and click on the “Submit a Tip” tab, or download the P3 Tips App for Apple or Android devices.
