The 17-3 Andrew Jackson Lady Vols advance to play the 16-7 Blacksburg in the next level of the Class AA playoffs with a 20-point win over Eau Claire on Tuesday evening. The game with Blacksburg will be Friday night at AJ at 6pm.
The Lady Vols took a 13 point lead during the opening minutes of the match, posting a first quarter score of 21-8. The second half was much closer in scoring, but the first quarter advantage held for a score of 31 to 16 at the break. The Lady Vols poured on more points in the third quarter to keep the lead 37-28. Nine unanswered points in the 4th quarter brought the win with a score of 53-33.
Three field goals and 3 treys lifted Raegan Brewer into the lead scorer with 15 points. Danielle Ussery dropped in 13 points. Osha Black added 6 points. Caroline Wrenn added 4 points. Isha Williams and Mackenzie Marshall each added 2 points
“It is a win, we had some moments when she shined, and some moments when we dropped the ball. If we want to make a further run, we have to step up the game” said ShaRon Robertson coach of the Lady Vols.
AJ had 15 team fouls and 23 turnovers, Eau Claire had 17 team fouls and 21 turnovers.
Local Rival Buford Lady Jackets lost their playoff game with Keenan 61-27. Lee Central lost their match with Saluda 53-46
