Schools will be open Monday, Feb. 19 and Friday, March 9 for regular student days to make up for the days students missed Wednesday, Jan. 17 and Thursday, Jan. 18 when schools were closed because of icy conditions.
Feb. 19 was originally scheduled as a holiday for students so teachers could take part in professional development activities.
March 9 was originally scheduled as a holiday for students as a teacher work day.
The days are two of the days the district designated as make-up days when the calendar was developed.
“These days are the next two scheduled make-up days on the calendar, and we believe it’s important to use the make-up day because we still face the possibility of more bad winter weather and more missed days,” Superintendent Jonathan Phipps said.
State law requires schools to be in session 180 days a year.
Teachers will make up the professional development day and work day later in the year.
